So I am finally back from vacation and ready to jump back in to scrapping. Which is good because it is the first of the month and that means Mix A Kit time! This month's mix a kit colors are definitely halloweeny but as you can see, they work for other things besides Halloween pages, and the elements are very classic and will go with all sorts of things besides Halloween pages. Bow shirt for Disney!

This is one of the shirts I made for our Disney trip. Just lots of red, black, and white bows coming down one shoulder and onto the shirt. First I tied all of the bows, then ran the edges through a flame so they wouldn't fray or look sloppy. They were all pinned to the shirt for a while while I figured out the correct placement, then each bow was stitched to the shirt through the knot in the bow. They should stay tied and attached to the shirt. I hope!

Took the pic with my phone, it is really cute in person!

I thought about doing some pops of yellow as well, but couldn't round up much yellow ribbon.

Right now I'm making our packing list for vacation. It is 7 pages long. OCD list making and obsessive packing make for one long, crazy packing list, I admit it.

For vaction hubster got 4 new pairs of shorts, 4 new pairs of shoes, lots of new chonies and sleep t shirts ( you really don't need the number), 5 new polo shorts, 6 new tee shirts, and 5 new button down shirts.

I got 3 new pairs of spanx (huzza!), new dainties (what we call panties/bras around here), 3 new pairs of shoes, 6 new dresses, 8 new shirts, and 4 new pairs of shorts.

We are gone for 8 nights. We may be over packing. Or I may have over shopped....

Every night Hubster and I have the official countdown ceremony, usually as I am prepping dinner.

Our countdown ceremony is: taking turns putting up the days countdown Mickey head while the other person applauds and we say yay vacation! I know...we are weird...

Rather than doing classic mickey colors (don't want to get too burnt out on the red, white, and black) I went more vacation-y with a tropical tiki theme. Which is perfect because I am a tiki NUT!

Having a countdown calendar is fun but not so fun. For some reason seeing the days up seems to make it go by so much slooowwwweerrrrr.... I like it better when I check online every few days and am pleasantly surprised that it is 5 days less than the last day I looked.

According to the handy dandy magic suitcase/countdown calendar on my computer, we have 43 days, 3 hours, and 59 minutes until we leave! Six weeks seem like plenty of time but it's going to go by in a jiff. a flash. a heartbeat. Ack!

I'm working on an embellished shirt. And I need to do our mini medicine kit for my purse. And another penny tube. And decide if we are going to dress up for MNSSHP and if so, as what?!?! Then itineraries... oh my.... 43 days, 3 hours, andddddddd 47 minutes... GO!

Chelle has some awesome returning items added to the store as well as the stinkin' cutest water kit evuh! I sooo wish I had some of my lake pictures from back in Washington, I really wanted to use the new water kit. BUT, I did get to scrap something that I've had an idea for for a long time, so that is almost even better.

We do a lot of hiking and camping, so I had to get one of Chelle's awesome outdoor kits that I have been eyeing forever. Can you believe it's July 1st already? Time is flying by! For the July mix a kit Haynay Designs has an awesome template set and some gorgeous gorgeous papers, and as usual, the mix a kit colors are just yummy - which was the perfect name for the lovely papers!

Sometimes it's nice to get a page done that looks great and didn't take forever. This template is perfect for that and I am very happy with the quick cute page I did.

Happy Mothers day to all of my mom friends! I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful mother. She taught me the value of hard work and doing things for yourself, standing up for what you believe in and not playing games, and balancing all of the things life throws at you with grace and poise. Because we live so far apart we don't talk every day but we talk once or twice a week for HOURS at a time. We have to be careful because she gets home from work late and if we don't watch it our conversation that starts at 8:00 PM will go on 'till 11:00 PM and we'll both be struggling to get up in the morning. I can't be with my mom today but it's okay because I will be with her later this week, and I'm so excited.

To all of the moms out there - have a lovely mothers day. I hope your children realize and show you what a blessing you are to them and also that you feel how very blessed you are to be a mother.

It is so chic, and so elegant, and is perfect for all of those pictures of your little darlings in their rough and tumble phases or their prince and princess phases. If you haven't noticed, Scrapmatters is doing a new thing called the Mix a Kit. Several designers use the same color palate to create mini kits that you can mix and match to create your own kit with the stuff you like! It gets released on the first of each month and May's Mix a Kit color way is cool yellows, greens and greys. So chic! Haynay put together 3 pieces - a cool template set, some gorgeous damask papers, and some basic elements that will go with the whole team's portions as well! Check out the 3 designs from Hayanay as well as my creation with them!

Ive been trying to figure out what to do with these Riverside pics forever and as soon as I saw these pretty damasks and these gorgeous colors I knew it would be perfect for these pics!

So we moderators (and a few helpers) have been busy busy busy putting together an awesome 2nd birthday celebration for MouseScrappers. It's four weeks of fun, starting with a week long chatapalooza, 3 weeks of fun party games, a week of speed scraps, all finished up with a blog hop!

So the second I saw the new kit from Haynay Designs this week I was in love. the owls, the mushrooms, the trees..soooo cute! And, the second second I saw it it reminded me of the artwork of Mary Blair, the iconic artist who was the creative genius behind the classic Disney attraction It's A Small World- the colors that aren't quite brights and aren't quite pastels, the graphic look to the mushrooms and leaves....love it! So I had to do a small world page with it! Here is the super cute kit and matching alpha

Have you ever come across new friends online and you just KNOW they are nice people? Two of my nicest online friends are Denise of A Grieving Mommy blog and Natalie of Natalie's Place Designs. These two ladies just exude niceness and generosity and they've come together to create an AWESOME kit inspired by our favorite duck to help raise awareness for Autism. All of the proceeds from their joint kit will go to Autism Speaks, a wonderful organization dedicated to raising awareness about the puzzle we call Autism. ....the Swiffer Sweeper! So all of my life I've done the weekly hands, knees, rag crawl on all of my linoleum to get it clean. Which kinda stinks. Many times I've looked at the Swiffer but I always felt like it was so wasteful, all of those little pads to throw away. Finally I talked myself into getting one and I am in LOVE! Got it about a month ago and use it about 3 times a week, both the wet mop pads and the dry sweeper pads. Yesterday I had a brainstorm about using it as a cobweb catcher. Put the dry pad on and caught all of the cobwebs, worked great! I do feel bad about cluttering up the landfill, but having a sparkling clean floor to look at every day instead of just once a week makes me forget about the landfill.

So I am starting the blog challenge at SM. It's Friday and the prompt is to use a picture, but I'm too lazy to look for one now. Also, I feel very blessed so I will use one of the 5 additional prompts to post about a blessing in my life.

It may sound wacky, but I'm so blessed to pay for hubster's car repair. Lately I've been trying to be positive about paying bills - the whole living with intention and sending out positive energy thing, ya know?!?! We had an unexpected car repair bill come up this week. While I can think of many things I'd rather spend the money on, I feel so blessed that we were able to pay the bill and it wasn't a huge, traumatic, stressful event. No worries about how we are going to pay the bills AND fix the car. Or, as has happened a few times in the past, how we are going to fix a vehicle AND eat! We don't have a lot extra right now, but we were able to pay a very unexpected expense without it being terribly stressful, and that is a HUGE blessing to me. Right now I feel so blessed to be able to pay all of my bills, and one that was unexpected. Weird, huh. But so many aren't able to pay all their bills right now, much less extra bills. So for now I will continue to send in those checks with a smile on my face, feeling so blessed to be able to pay them, knowing that the money may not come back to me but less stress and more blessings will!

Club 33 Thank You

My WONDERFUL sister and brother in law had the opportunity to go to Club 33 in Disneyland for dinner recently. So jealous! As always they are too good to me and brought me back several special Club 33 goodies, including a set of Club 33 ears. They are too nice!

This is the thank you I made for them. It is hard to see but the center is raised up so that the hat is rounded like the ear hats. My gold pen wouldn't work so I did the club 33 logo in white and then put gold glitter over it.

I love to craft, I really do. Sometimes it is more fun to get ideas for crafting than it actually is to do it though. Seems like I get so into the thinking and shopping and planning that by the time it actually comes down to the making, I'm pooped!

With that in mind, I am telling you guys that by the 12th I will have two Disney related craft items with tutorials up. Possibly a 3rd item if I can find the main supply cheap. Now I have to do these crafts, right? Yes, because I told you guys I was going to do it!

Tonight I really need to work on hubby's gift for this weekend. It isn't anything too big, kinda silly really..but I know he will like it. Since the budget is tight and we aren't able to go anywhere or spend much money I am planning a fun weekend at home that I hope he will like!

Just remembered I need to work on thank you's for all of my wonderful birthday gifts too! ACkkkk!

Faded Roses Wreath

I've been meaning to do two things for a while - enter the county fair for the first time and make a pretty wreath with these gorgeous hand rolled roses. Luckily I could combine the two for one project.

the roses are crepe paper and ribbon, rolled together. They actually look like roses! It's hard to see but there are 3 different sizes of crystals placed randomly on the roses, because the more bling the better, of course! Finished with a pretty grosgrain ribbon. It was worth staying up till all hours of the morning to finish, even if I don't win anything.

I will post a tutorial later this week!

You know those crazy old fashioned washing machines where they got the clothes wet and then ran them between two wooden bars over and over until all the water was wrung out? Well...first I wonder how many poor women broke their fingers/hands washing their husband's dress shirts and secondly, I feel like a white shirt repeatedly getting squeezed through those wooden bars.

Seriously, the universe is dunking me and then squeezing me as hard as it can. and...repeat!

And that's the last time I'm going to complain for a while. Everyone has crap to deal with. Soon I hope I am going through the crazy lady washing machine way less often. It's good to hope, right?

On a cooler note...W is going to get Chinese for dinner tonight. This weekend is the minnie marathon speed scrap so I am going to do a few of those, make W a present for our anniversary, hopefully finish something to put in the fair, try to get all of this stuff out of my head, and celebrate Christmas in July weekend. Mostly in my jammies......tra la la la La!

In case you didn't know, A Christmas Story is one of my favorite movies EVER! And my favorite line is poor Flick with his tongue stuck to the flagpole yelling "Thuck, Thuck, Thuck!!"

That is totally what I feel like right now. I had a very interesting job offer that I am totally 'thuck' trying to figure out if I want to take or not. Pros: it's in the field I want to move into so I'd get some good experience, it would be a fairly easy transition as I'm familiar with all of the key players, it's a full time position that will pay at least what I make now which is good because I am currenly only 20 hours a week and unemployment is looming. Cons: the commute SUCKS (seriously, I should add a bad word in front of sucks to really describe the suckitude accurately), I'm not sure I completely trust the person I would be working for.

Thoughts? Need more details?

A CRAZY Craft

While doing my daily blog hopping to find fabulous crafting ideas, I ran across this blog with the super wonderful craft of....a KNIT BIKINI! http://www.finecraftguild.com/bikini-free-knitting-pattern/ Now this scares me for several reasons. 1) Even if I was as teeny tiny as that girl I STILL would not be wearing a bikini that small 2) Not only is the bikini teeny tiny it is full of holes (I know, DUH, it's knit...) 3) I would never wear a teeny tiny bikini, full of holes that *I* actually made. I've done enough knitting to know I would be breaking a lot of decency laws.

W saw the knit bikini. He said "that's a cute bikini, it would look good on you."

Insert eye roll here.

Dating Divas

I found this wonderful blog called Dating Divas

They have ideas and tips for keeping your relationship fun and flirty and exciting. Nothing tooo out there, just little things to make your guy happy. With all of stress I'm under about losing my job, K's crazy mom, parenting a teenager, weird stuff with W's family, money, and everything else I know I haven't been as focused on us as I should. Luckily W is a guy that doesn't mind (dare I say actually likes?) the mushy stuff. Found a great idea for a cute gift for our upcoming anniversary and I will post pics when I'm done. Snarkopotamous

I am naturally a snarkapotamous. Snarky things just pop into my head. This is one of the things I really don't like about myself. Sometimes I think it is because I'm hilarious (to myself) and think snarky things just because I know my husband or some other snarkapotamous would appreciate it. Sometimes it must just be because my head is very mean. Is head snarkiness mean even if it never leaves your head?

Since I know no one is actually reading this, I am going to congratulate myself on FINALLY making a post on this blog that I've had set up forever. Sort of losing my job has given me some time to figure out new ways to spend my time, hopefully by doing things that make me a better person. This week I started using Mango languages to learn (or relearn after 6 years of high school classes) Spanish. I'm working on lesson 5 Ha! And getting into my blog and making a resolution to post on it even if no one actually reads it. While in actuality they were tiny things, I learned two new tricks in Adobe CS3 that will make my digital scrapping/designing much easier. They were both DUH! moments and things I should have known earlier, but no matter, I know them now.

Anyway, first blog post - done. Yay me!
